Our coaching focuses on building strong technical foundations through safe, structured progression so athletes can develop consistency and clear higher bars with confidence.

Training is available in both individual and small group formats.

David Thomson

Senior Coach

David is a Level 3 Performance Coach and qualified IAAF Kids’ Athletics Coach with over 15 years of coaching experience.

He has developed athletes from beginner level through to national and international competition, with athletes achieving national champions and age-group records.

A former international athlete in Decathlon and Pole Vault, David represented at the IAAF World Junior Championships, has won multiple Open National medals, and is ranked on the Australian all-time lists in both events.

He currently leads a competitive squad of athletes at Bill Stewart and Doncaster Athletics Tracks, delivering structured, performance-focused training to support athletes pursuing high-level progression.

Holly Hodges

Senior Hurdles & Javelin Coach

Holly is a Level 2 Coach and Senior Jumps & Throws Coach with over a decade of experience in athletics and 7 years of coaching.

A multiple State medallist and Victorian representative, Holly brings strong competitive experience into her coaching, supporting athletes in developing both technical skill and event confidence.

Her background across jumps and throws allows her to guide athletes in building coordinated movement, power, and event-specific technique through structured training.

Holly works with developing athletes to support their progression within a positive and performance-focused environment.
